“This is a beautiful heavenly valley” said an English princess thrilled with the view, while approaching Cetinje at the beginning of the 20th century.
It is likely that this occurred at Orlov Krš, which provides the most beautiful view of the old Montenegrin capital. There are no walls, as in many other ancient royal towns, since nature surrounded Cetinje with stone hills that serve as mighty guardians. The town was founded in back in 1482, when Ivan Crnojević, the last ruler of the powerful mediaeval state of Zeta, erected a palace below Orlov Krš, and after that founded the monastery as the centre of the Zeta Metropolitanate. He did this convinced that the state would be better protected from invaders in these inaccessible surroundings

Rijeka Crnojevića
Time has stopped in Rijeka Crnojevica, once a major trade centre, and the beauty of nature has been preserved thanks to human neglect
In the second half of the 15th century, fearing Turkish invasion and the fall of Zabljak, Ivan Crnojevic, known as Ivan-beg, moved the capital and then the seat of the Metropolitan from Vranjina to Obod, a hill above Rijeka. Therefore, Obod became a reigning place of family Crnojevic. The first Cyrillic book in the Slavic South was printed at the Crnojevic printing house, which was located in Obod after being brought from Venice at the end of the 15th century. During the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century, Rijeka Crnojevica was the best market-place in this part of the Balkans. Smoked bleak - a product from this area was highly valued by the Italians. Representatives of all three confessions (Orthodox, Catholic and Islam) lived in harmony and traded in Rijeka, while Muslims were considered as the best merchants. Prior to the Balkan wars, Rijeka was full of manufacturing outlets and the first pharmacy in Montenegro was established here, as well as the first arms factory. The "Marica" Factory produced pearls from fish scales. Located in this area is Lipska Cave with a wonderful lake and stone ornaments, a waterfall at the source of the river, as well as Dobrsko village, surrounded with small vineyards that produce good wine and even better rakija
