Below the floor of the church temple there is a room which one entered through an opening formed in the floor of the altar. Today it is believed that that room most probably served as a dungeon, during the reign of Montenegrin Tsar Scepan Mali, who was later buried in this church. In the monastery of Lower Brceli there was a primary school that had earlier been in the Upper Brceli Monastery.
